Our InspirationBharat Ratna Bodhisattva Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar:
“Knowledge is the foundation of a man’s life”
Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar (14 April 1891 – 6 December, 1956) was our country’s tallest personality – a nation builder, a human right fighter, a champion of equality, liberty and fraternity, a jurist, a philosopher, a path breaking thinker, a historian, an economist, the greatest revivalist of Buddhism, the chief architect of the Indian Constitution and above all the greatest educationalist- our country has witnessed till now. Born into a poor, the then untouchable, family, he spent his whole life fighting for the rights of most marginalized sections of Indian society who had been historically deprived of all human rights including the most coveted one – access to education.
Apart from his numerous efforts in granting equal socio-political and economic rights to the then untouchables, tribal other backward castes and women through ensuring the incorporation of adequate safeguards and provisions in Indian Constitution, Babasaheb Ambedkar made immense contribution in the field of education. He firmly believed that education was the only effective lever for the uplift of the down-trodden. It was only through education that the suffering Indian masses could be made conscious of their rights as human beings.
To commemorate Babasaheb’s efforts, foresightedness and initiative that brought a silent revolution among the marginalized masses of the country and to carry forward his work in the educationally backward region of Vidarbha in Maharashtra, Subhedar Ramji Ambedkar Education Society, was formed in Wardha in 1992 and is now running number of educational institutions providing quality education to the students from across the marginalized communities. In doing so, we remember Babasaheb Ambedkar’s work, salute his legacy and reiterate our commitment towards providing education for all!
